Week 5 Story: The Young Couple

Image
Read the revised version  TheYoungCouple   on my portfolio! There once was a young couple so cute that they got stopped everywhere they went and people said how adorable they were. The man, Carl, and the woman, Isabella, met at a very young age in a diner off the highway. She was with her girlfriends getting a milkshake and he was all by himself grabbing a quick bite to eat. They saw each other and instantly knew that they would spend their whole life together. They got married in a little chapel where there where lilies and tulips and everyone cheered them on.They were so happy and couldn't imagine a better life. Carl was drafted into the Army and Isabella couldn't imagine him leaving for that long but she accepted it. They tried to spend all the time they could and did things they have always wanted to do. They went backpacking and swimming in some beautiful rivers where the crickets would chirp all night and you could see every star in the sky. She even bought a star and

Part B: SitaSingstheBlues In this part of the story, Sita told Rama that she is pregnant and he banished her because he thought it was Ravana's child, not his. He pretty much throws a hissy fit. She goes to a village where a man teaches her kids songs about Rama. Rama comes and finds his kids and Sita asks to come back. He demands that she does a purity check and she goes back into the mother's womb. Pretty much saying she was pure and that he was stupid. Reading Notes Sita Sings the Blues, Part A

Image
Part A: SitaSingstheBlues I loved how this story is just like the story but it takes a modern twist and shows some humor. It also has a couple in the modern word alongside with this story It is just like Ramayan, but they argue some of the points of the myths and legends.  Rama is banished and Sita goes with him into the forest. His brother isn't mentioned in this story that he went with them. Sita fights all the battles and then Ravana wants Sita because of the ugly sister. He gets her and then Sita sends monkeys to find her. He finds her and kills Havana and almost rejects her but ends up taking her back in part A. I love how they included a couple from New York city that told a tale close to it to show a meaning.  (Nina Paley,   RavanaSitaPainting ) Bibliography  Nina Paley, Sita Sings the Blues,  February 4, 2010.

Tech Tip: Word Counter

Image
Word Counter for Chrome I installed this new item to see how many words I had written. I had been struggling to write enough and have fallen short a few times. I am one to not talk a lot so writing can sometimes not come as naturally as it comes to others. I like to be brief and to the point, I don't like to add a lot of fluff. I am working on that though! I would recommend using this nifty tool to help you find just how many words you have used. I was not so good at estimating lengths so hopefully, this also helps me to be a better guesser! Week 4 Story The Hungry Dinosaur

Image
There once was a village that had many dinosaurs that were all different shapes and sizes. They all loved and cared for each other except Rex. The biggest of them all was the Rex. He was great and mighty. He would destroy everything if he ever got mad so the village decided to give Rex a sleeping spell. He could only awake if someone truly needed his help. Which made the village prosper and grow many baby dinosaurs. The village was living peacefully when a group of people wanted to destroy them for their skins. The Dinosaurs were so scared because they did not have a lot of fighters so the village wished that Rex would come out of his spell and help them in battle. The village prayed and prayed for the Mighty Rex to come out and help them win the battle so that the babies can grow up. Rex destroyed every human that wanted their skin and after it was all done he went back to his cave and began to sleep until the next time they needed him. The village cheered for the glory that Rex bro

Feedback Strategies

Image
Be a Mirror: Give Readers Feedback That Fosters a Growth Mindset GM As a psychology major, we talk about growth mindset a lot and how it affects not only kids but adults. If you are told that you aren't going places and you believe that, it will be hard for you to do so. I think it is so important to believe in yourself and others. We need to remember to encourage one another and not set limits on abilities. I love to tell kids that they can do anything and then give them a realistic way to get there. It is hard to see yourself as successful sometimes but I believe people can do the incredible. ( Pixabay,  Happy ) How to Craft Constructive Feedback Feedback Be a witness, be a mirror, and be a guide are the big three things and I think we can all learn from this. Remember that when giving feedback that you need to be kind and wear their shoes. We all aren't perfect but we can help build each other up. I like the easy quick little guide that can help people in the wor
